Research
In 2010, the academic staff of the Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies started a long-term research project on Meta-cognitive investigation of translation as bilingual communication; worked on the Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Translation Studies and the Lithuanian–Russian, Russian–Lithuanian Dictionary. In 2010, the teachers of the department published one book and several research articles in various publications; edited the Lithuanian Dictionary of World Placenames, translated 7 research articles; participated at seminars and conferences on literary translation, translation theory and translation training methodology. Doctoral students focused on their research of film translation and the characteristic features of Lithuanian and French legal language. Work on creation of the Term Bank for LSP (currently about 368 000 terms) was also carried on. The Department publishes a research journal “Vertimo studijos” (Translation Studies).
